Economic responsibility

Designing living spaces

The most sustainable kitchen furniture is that used for multiple years, multiple decades. This makes our high quality standards and the timeless elegance of our SieMatic kitchens our most important contribution to protecting valuable resources.

Other major factors – both economically and ecologically – are forward-thinking, intelligent product development, as well as investments in state-of-the-art, integrated production technology which simultaneously increase efficiency and protect the environment.

Tried and tested endurance

Every SieMatic kitchen which leaves our factory is built to last for decades. This is why our materials and components must all meet our own high quality standards – independently of supplier assurances – and undergo strict stress tests in our internal test laboratory. Tests range from mechanical tests for e.g. hinges to the simulation of different climate zones, due to the fact that our kitchens are at home in more than 70 different countries around the world.

In addition, we have the quality of our furniture approved by external experts. They include Deutsche Gütegemeinschaft Möbel (DGM) with its strict quality seal "Golden M", the FSC certificate, TÜV Rheinland with its GS seal for "Geprüfte Sicherheit" (tested safety), and the DIN EN ISO standards 9001 and 14001.

High-quality materials

All over the world, a SieMatic kitchen is an expression of highest individuality. A crucial factor is the wide selection of different available materials, surfaces and design elements: woods and veneers, metals, synthetics, ceramics, artificial and natural stones. And not to forget: lighting systems, colours and finishes. They all allow the kitchen to reflect individual requirements, the architectural surroundings and personal taste to perfection – while bringing joy for many years to come.

But only when all the materials used for the kitchen are of the same high quality can a long life be guaranteed. It is therefore our responsibility, as the manufacturer, to select and process all materials carefully and soundly. We also expect our suppliers to meet our quality and sustainability standards.

The SieMatic hinge with the red dot stands for extreme endurance far beyond the norm.

Opening a cabinet 10 times per week means per year 3,650 times
Minimum requirement for a SieMatic hinge 100,000 times
Hinge movements in documented laboratory tests 200,000 times

Timeless design

With regard to longevity, one often underestimated aspect is aesthetics. Only a design which is still considered attractive decades later, which never loses its appeal, will have a place in the lives of our customers for a long period of time. This is why "timelessness" has always been a permanent feature of our design philosophy, and always will be.

Our four style worlds PURE, URBAN, CLASSIC and MONDIAL are all timeless in the best possible sense: they are modern without following every trend, they are convincing with their clear design language and classic lines, and yet they allow scope for individual ideas.

Factory 22: high-tech instead of soil sealing

With our project "Factory 22", we have not only invested millions to safeguard our production site in Löhne, but have also been able to redevelop our production halls in such a way that extending their surface area was not necessary.

Today, state-of-the-art machines for cutting, edging, sorting, drilling and milling, as well as for assembly, are all linked by automated transport routes. In addition, a new manufacturing execution system has been established. It facilitates the overall management of complex production processes, as well as their administration and monitoring, and is individually modifiable in case of future further developments.

The installation of so-called "manufacturing workstations" permits a perfect symbiosis of automation and craftsmanship since this area includes special workstations where employees with a trained eye and many years of experience guarantee the difference in quality which is expected in highly individual production.

Lot size 1: individual kitchens instead of mass production

What had long been possible at SieMatic underwent further professionalisation with the introduction of the "Factory 22" philosophy: namely individual production in lot size 1. This means that despite perfect industrial manufacturing methods – usually associated with mass production – customers can buy a completely individual kitchen, planned and produced exclusively for them. A high degree of automation and robotics increases productivity, while also reducing stock levels, and minimises physically demanding tasks, thus protecting the health of our employees. Last but not least, quality and overall efficiency are increased.

Effective in numbers: the latest technology instead of unnecessarily powered machines.

The state-of-the-art technologies and components used in Factory 22 have a high energy-saving potential compared with the previous generation of machinery. Taken together, the different measures not only save energy, however, but also considerably reduce so-called auxiliary supplies  . Measures include, for example, introduction of the "ECO mode" or automatic standby of drives as soon as machines are in wait state. Or use of the latest drives and control components, use of different compressed air circuits, the precise extraction of individual aggregates through electronically controlled suction flaps, as well as use of central lubrication circuits to reduce oils.

Our kitchens are cosmopolitan, our down-to-earth approach is typically East-Westphalian.

100% solidarity

We profit from committed individuals and highly qualified companies within our region, and we would also like to give something back. Conducting business in a manner which is both future-proof and responsible is our greatest concern. With over 400 employees, we are a significant employer for Löhne and the surrounding area. But we also wish to make a tangible contribution with our social commitment.
We encourage young talent and cooperate with local schools desiring work placements, career days or site visits. We also donate kitchen furniture to charities, participate in appeals, e.g. for refugees, and conduct our own blood donor days.  For more than 20 years we have also appreciated a productive collaboration with regional workshops for people with disabilities.

92% from Germany

One of the many reasons why SieMatic kitchens are so popular all around the world is undoubtedly the quality associated with "Made in Germany". For more than 90 years, we have been producing our kitchens in Germany, and more than 90% of our materials are still produced or finalised in Germany today.

This reduces transportation routes and costs, to be sure, but the close and personal contact to our suppliers is also important to us. We can only maintain our high standards if they all adhere to our quality and sustainability standards.

71% from our region

The headquarters and production site of SieMatic are in Löhne, located in the region of East Westphalia-Lippe. That puts us in the best of company, alongside many other global brands from the areas of furniture, mechanical engineering, food, health, media and information technology.

It also has the advantage that many excellent suppliers and specialists are located nearby. For example,  71% of materials and the corresponding purchasing for 2022 were generated with partners within a radius of less than 100 km.
